You don't need any experience to enter. Build in TruWorlds Creator, script in TruScript, and ask for help on the DevBoard or in the TruWorlds Discord Community when you get stuck.

Does it cost anything to enter?
No. The TruWorlds x RoDevs Game Jam is free to enter.
Who can join?
Anyone 13 or older. Enter solo or as a team of up to 4.
When does the jam start and end?
The jam starts Oct 9. Submissions close Oct 25.
I have never made a game. Should I still enter?
Yes. Every finished game earns a Bronze Trophy, a month of Pro Membership, and 250 TruCoins for each team member. The TruWorlds Discord Community and the DevBoard are the best places to ask questions and find teammates.
How should I start?
Download TruWorlds Creator, join the TruWorlds Discord Community, and post on the DevBoard. The team and other developers will help you get your first world running.
What are the themes?
The 10 themes are listed above. Each game is built for one theme.
What do I build with?
TruWorlds Creator, the same software used to build every world on TruWorlds. You place and shape objects in the editor, then bring them to life with TruScript, the TruWorlds scripting language. Download TruWorlds Creator to get started, and read the guides to learn the editor and TruScript.
Can I use assets I made before the jam?
Yes. Pre-existing assets are fine, but the game itself has to be built during the jam.
Can my team submit more than one game?
Yes, up to 2 games per team, each in a different theme. Both games can win in their themes.
Can I change teams after the jam starts?
No. Once the jam starts, you stay with your team through the end.
Can I make real money from my TruWorlds games?
Revenue sharing is coming to TruWorlds in the near future. Build now and get your game established before everyone else shows up.
How is the $500 split for teams?
The $500 prize is paid in Visa gift cards, split among the members of the winning team. TruCoins are awarded per member.
Do all team members get the participation rewards?
Yes. Every member of a team with a finished game gets the Bronze Trophy, a month of Pro Membership, and 250 TruCoins.
How are winners picked?
A panel of judges from TruWorlds and RoDevs picks first, second, and third place in each theme. There is also a Community Choice award voted on by everyone in both Discord servers.
How do I submit?
Submission steps are posted on the DevBoard and in the TruWorlds Discord Community. Join both so you do not miss anything.
What if I miss the deadline?
Submissions close Oct 25. Late entries are not accepted, no exceptions.
Can I update my game after the deadline?
Yes. Judges play the version that is published at the deadline, but you can keep updating and maintaining your game for as long as you like. TruWorlds Creator is still in beta, so if an outage cuts into building time, the deadline is extended and the new date is announced in the TruWorlds Discord Community. Judges then play the version published at the new deadline.
